My background is grounded in more than 25 years of construction industry experience. I have worked across commercial, industrial, residential, education, recreation, cold storage, factory, warehouse, and office projects, with experience in site delivery, construction management, project leadership, contract administration, and commercial coordination.
I combine this practical project experience with formal qualifications in construction law, project management, and construction management. My qualifications include a Master’s in Construction Law, Graduate Diploma in Project Management, New Zealand Diploma in Construction Management, Carpenter/Joiner Trade Certificate, PMP certification, PMI Senior Construction Professional certification, and specialist training in arbitration, adjudication, and mediation.
This combination of hands-on construction experience and formal dispute resolution training allows me to approach construction disputes with practical insight, commercial judgment, and contractual clarity. I understand standard forms of contract, project management methodologies, payment processes, claims procedures, delay and disruption issues, variations, extensions of time, defects, notices, final accounts, and the commercial pressures that sit behind construction disputes. I assist parties with disputes involving payment claims, variation claims, delay claims, disruption claims, contract interpretation, risk allocation, defects, project records, program impacts, and other construction-related issues.
My approach is neutral, structured, and practical. I focus on identifying the real issues, understanding the contractual and factual position, and helping parties move towards fair, efficient, and commercially sensible outcomes.
